Ride The Cyclone

Choreographed by: Katja Roberts

I made my choreography debut with Ohio Northern University’s production of Ride the Cyclone, directed by Courtney Katengell-Blake. The show was staged in the round and had a double-cast ensemble that stayed on stage for the full 90 minutes, which made it feel super immersive from start to finish. I pulled from a bunch of different dance styles to match each character’s vibe and the overall tone of the story. Choreographing in the round was definitely a challenge, but I loved finding ways to keep the movement engaging from every angle. Both casts brought something totally unique to the table, and the whole process was such a fun, collaborative experience—I’ll never forget it.

"Choosing our favorite number in this production was an impossibly hard task."

"But if we were forced to begrudgingly pick a favorite song, it would have to be ‘Noel’s Lament.’
